ABOUT
24 Training was established in 2016.

Our vision is to deliver top quality, professional and accredited training to individuals and companies who wish to equip themselves with the knowledge of how to handle any emergency situation.

Our lectures are presented by passionate instructors who all have "on the road experience" some of whom are full time employees of emergency medical services.

This type of experience plays a vital role in class participation as delegates are taught from "real life scenarios" how to implement the life-saving techniques being explained in class.

Our instructors are constantly attending workshops and lectures to improve their training ability and are at all times up to date with the latest protocol as set out by the Health Professional Council of South Africa.

Our courses and instructors are accredited by the relevant SETA's which in their own right adhere to very strict guidelines and standards.

First aid training is essential for several reasons, and it can make a significant difference in emergencies. Here are some key reasons why you might require first aid training:

  1. Immediate Response: First aid training equips you with the knowledge and skills to provide immediate assistance in the event of an injury or sudden illness. This prompt response can be crucial in saving lives or minimizing the severity of injuries.
  2. Increased Confidence: Knowing what to do in an emergency situation boosts your confidence. This confidence is not only beneficial for you but can also have a calming effect on the injured person, helping them feel more secure and reassured.
  3. Prevent Worsening of Injuries: With proper first aid knowledge, you can prevent minor injuries from becoming more severe. Immediate care can stop bleeding, prevent infection, and stabilize a person's condition until professional medical help arrives.
  4. Critical Time Gap: In many emergencies, professional medical help may not be immediately available. First aid bridges the gap between the occurrence of an incident and the arrival of medical professionals, increasing the chances of a positive outcome.
  5. Community Safety: First aid training is not only for personal benefit but also for the safety of the community. Your ability to assist others in need can contribute to creating a safer environment for everyone.
  6. Workplace Requirements: Many workplaces require employees to have basic first aid training. This is especially true in high-risk industries where accidents or injuries are more likely to occur.
  7. Legal Considerations: In some situations, there may be legal obligations to provide first aid. For example, if you witness a car accident, you may be legally required to assist the injured parties to the best of your ability until professional help arrives.
  8. Natural Disasters and Remote Locations: If you live in an area prone to natural disasters or work in remote locations, first aid training becomes even more critical. In these situations, you may be the first and only person available to provide assistance.
  9. Personal and Family Safety: First aid training is valuable not only in public spaces or workplaces but also in everyday life. Accidents can happen at home or during recreational activities, and having the skills to respond effectively is important.
  10. Life-saving Techniques: First aid training covers a range of life-saving techniques, including CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), which can be crucial in situations where someone's heartbeat or breathing has stopped.
In summary, first aid training is essential for both personal and community safety, enabling individuals to respond effectively to emergencies and potentially save lives.
The Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 (Act No. 85 of 1993) in South Africa outlined the general responsibilities of employers to provide a safe working environment. This Act may include provisions related to first aid requirements in the workplace.

In many jurisdictions, employers are often required to:

  1. Conduct Risk Assessments: Employers need to assess the risks in the workplace and take appropriate measures to mitigate those risks. This may include having first aid measures in place.
  2. Provide First Aid Facilities: Employers are usually obligated to provide suitable first aid facilities, equipment, and trained personnel based on the size and nature of the workplace.
  3. Train First Aiders: Some regulations may stipulate that employers need to ensure that an adequate number of employees are trained as first aiders. These individuals should be capable of providing immediate assistance in case of injury or illness.
  4. Maintain Records: Employers may be required to keep records of first aid training, incidents, and the use of first aid facilities.
  5. Review and Update Procedures: It's common for regulations to require periodic reviews and updates of first aid procedures to ensure they remain effective and relevant.
To obtain the most accurate and up-to-date information, you should refer to the latest legislation and guidelines provided by the Department of Employment and Labor in South Africa or consult with legal professionals knowledgeable about workplace safety regulations in the country. Additionally, your company's occupational health and safety officer or department should have information on specific first aid requirements for your workplace.
